FAQ’s

  • No. Being brand new to motorcycling is what CLEAR Moto is here for. We’re happy to help you get started with a private coaching session.

  • Unfortunately CLEAR Moto is not in a position to award motorcycle licensing or endorsements. You must go through New Mexico’s MSF program or test directly with the DMV. If you are in a different state look up “MSF” for licensing class schedules.

  • CLEAR Moto does have a rental motorcycle available for training purposes only. If you want to learn to ride before investing in your own motorcycle, we’re here for you.

  • The way we coach is critical to your success, and we take that very seriously.

Think back on your math teachers through school. For many of us, we don’t like math or think we aren’t good at it. The question is, how much of your dislike for math (or any subject) had more to do with your teacher than the subject? CLEAR Moto coaches teach in a supportive, kind, patient, and clear manner. We’ll never rush you, force you, or belittle you. You are free to ask as many and any questions you want without judgement. We know how vulnerable it feels to be new at something, so we do our best to make each student feel confident and welcome.

Our lead coach and owner, Cassie Maier, has many professional years of coaching and guiding, having been mentored by some of the best coaches in the motorcycle training industry. It’s more than just a passion for us, it’s a skill that we are constantly working to improve to ensure that all our riders get the most out of their training and riding experience with us.

  • Thank you of coming all the way to Albuquerque! As we cannot book any services for you regarding your travel arrangements, we have provided a guide to help you with your planning.

  • We focus on vision, balance, clutch, throttle, and braking control. These five elements makeup the foundation of all your other skills. Once you have a strong foundation, you can begin to build more advanced skills upon it. Rush ahead to the “fun” stuff and you’ll have holes in your overall skill in the long run.

We don’t skip or hurry through the foundational skills. Vision, balance, clutch, throttle, and braking control come up time and time again as you progress as a rider, which allows our coaches to teach in a building-block fashion, along each skill to work off the one taught just before it. We find that this to be a very successful technique and allows riders to accelerate their learning, only if we spend adequate time on the foundational skills.

Regardless of your level of skill, we sill still focus on the foundational skills, just at your skill level. A circle for a novice rider will ride and feel different than a circle for an advanced rider. We do our best to meet you where you are so you are be safely challenged.

  • Novice level is for new riders, or new-to X discipline of riding. The pace is slower, allowing time for all the new information to set in. This is when all the foundational skills of vision, balance, clutch, throttle, and braking control is taught.

Intermediate level is for riders that have the foundational skills and are looking to refine and hone those skills. This is the broadest level because it spans the space between novice and advanced. Many riders spend much if not all their time at the intermediate level.

Intermediate+ level is our version of a more advanced course. Pushing the limits and refining the foundational skills down to a fine point.

If you are still unsure, we encourage you to set up a free 15 minute consolation so you can discuss your current skill level with a CLEAR Moto coach and get you signed up for the appropriate level.

  • All riders must wear a properly fitted DOT approved motorcycle helmet and eye protection while operating a motorcycle during training.

We recommend riders wear long sleeves, long pants, sturdy over-the-ankle boots, and full-finger gloves.

The amount of protection you choose to wear is up to you. For a list of gear options CLEAR Moto recommends please see it here.

  • Parking lots are safe places to build up the foundational skills required to operate a motorcycle safely on the road or trails. If you are ready to leave the parking lot, CLEAR Moto offers private training options to help you ride on the road or trails safely and with the guidance from a coach.

  • CLEAR Moto believes that motorcycling is for everyone, and that means we want to respect all people. It is a simple gesture to call a person by their chosen name and their appropriate pronoun.

If you don’t want to state your pronoun, you do not have to. We respect that just as much.

  • Yes. If you feel that your coach did a wonderful job, it is greatly appreciated by them to receive a tip.

  • If you are participating in any training that is longer than three hours, we recommend you bring any food and water you may want.

For full-day (six hour) training sessions, we will take a 30-60 minute lunch. Please bring a sack lunch.

  • Training will take place in most weather conditions. If the conditions make operating the motorcycle unsafe, training will be cancelled or rescheduled. For a more in-depth list of weather conditions that would cancel training please see the CLEAR Moto Policy page.

  • Payment is either paid in full or at 50% of total costs at time of booking. If there is a balance, the remainder is due at time of service.

Receive a 50% refund (if paid in full) if you cancel with less than two weeks notice. If only 50% was paid at time of booking, receive no refund.
